| Men's National Championships Info - Sunday 19th November |
|
|
The 2005 National Individual Championships will be held at Coolmine Gymnastics, Dublin on Sunday 19th November. The following document outlines procedures, and guidelines for clubs, coaches, gymnasts and families who are attending on the day.
About the event
This is the first time that this kind of event has been held by the Mens Technical Committee. Traditionally we have held two national individual championships, one for our elite levels (Levels 5-8), and another for our intermediate and novice levels. (Level 1 -4) This year, we are holding the championships for all 8 levels in the one venue at the one time, which we hope will make is a showcase event for Mens and Boys gymnastics in Ireland.
Level 1 is designed as introduction to Irish Gymnastics competition programme. Routines are based on the Community Games structure with different requirements for each age group
Levels 2-5 are a set programme where the gymnasts must perform particular elements with the same routines at each age group at each level, and as such is an ability based programme rather than age group based. The programme also facilitates clubs that may not have all apparatus, or gymnasts that may not be strong on all apparatus. – e.g. a gymnast could compete only 3 apparatus on Level 3, 4 in Level 4, or 5 in level 5, and still win the event. There are age categories so that gymnasts are competing against gymnasts of their own age.
Levels 6-8 is a voluntary programme where gymnasts try to maximise their score by creating individual routines based on the requirements of the rules, and their abilities and strengths. All National Squad gymnasts will compete these levels, as should gymnasts wishing to obtain a place on National Squad. The rules for levels 6 to 8 are based on the rules for International Gymnastics.
