| WAG Level 2 sports specific course launches! |
|
The first IG Level 2 sports specific coaching course has successfully launched with Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG).
Following completing the Level 2 Common Core theory weekend at Sports HQ in Dublin, February 2010 - 20 candidates from 6 clubs completed what represents IG's first level of coaching course developing into the performance strand of our coaching ladder.
Hosted at Salto Gymnastics Club in Lisburn on 13th & 14th March 2010, the candidate coaches were imparted with the most up-to-date technical gymnastics knowledge through a series of theory and practical sessions, leading on from the Level 1 course they completed last year. The Level 2 candidates now must complete an ongoing mentored assessment that will conclude with 3 exams in order to gain the qualification. It was clear to all, including tutors, observers and candidates that the content of this course will lead to the development of technically proficient coaches across Ireland ultimately raising the standard of our gymnasts both nationally and internationally.
The coach education team is now preparing for the roll-out of the rest of the disciplines sports specific courses throughout the rest of the year...
