The city of Aahrus has been very welcoming to all participants and delegations of the World Championships. The training facilities and the competition arena are superb in Aarhus, Denmark.
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics had two entries for this amazing competition, Sarah Hopkins and Gráinne Johnston. The girls were excited and nervous about the competition nevertheless their training sessions up to the competition were focused and went very well.
The women’s qualifiers were yesterday the 17th of October. Sarah and Gráinne both started off on beam, Gráinne was up first and did a very nice beam routine and was unlucky to fall off in her acro series. Sarah was up next and although she had two falls had quite a solid beam routine. After beam Sarah had a good floor and vault performance, while Gráinne had a disappointment on floor, falling out of her double back but pulled back on vault with a strong straight tzuckahara. Their final piece was Bars where Gráinne had a clean routine and Sarah was unlucky with a fall in her clear to handstand on high bar. Overall it was an exciting experience for the girls and although they are disappointed with some pieces the experience has increased their determination to do better at the next international competition. IG would like to congratulate the girls on their performance and wish them well in their future competitions.
