Luke Carson - 16 years old & ranked 160th in the World of Men's Gymnastics!
16 year old Luke Carson competed in his first World Championships on Saturday 14th October. Aged only 16 years old Luke was one of the youngest in the field. He competed in Subdivision 5 along side gymnastics legends such as France's Dmitri Karbanenko and current World, European & Olympic Champions Kyle Shewfelt (Canada) & Romania's Marian Dragulescu. On the day nerves got the better of Luke and he did not compete to 100% of his ability - however the experience gained at this event will no doubt be invaluable to his preparation for future championships including the 2007 Junior Europeans, 2007/2009 World Championships and his ultimate goal of representing Ireland at the 2012 Olympics in London! Luke ranked 160th all around - considering has age and relative in-experience we can be confident this is only the start for Luke - well done! Unfortunately Matthew Cosgrave had to withdraw from the event and decided not to travel due to ongoing recovery from an ankle injury obtained at the Commonwealth Games in March - Matthew is now focusing on the 2007 Senior Europeans. The Girls compete at 9am onTuesday 16th October. Report & Results to follow shortly...
