REFRESHING OLD QUALIFICATIONS
Many current members of Irish Gymnastics (IG) hold old IG or Irish Sports Acrobatics Federation (ISAF) qualifications at Level 1.
Unfortunately these qualifications are not recognised by Coaching Ireland (CI) and therefore are not valid.
However in order to facilitate our members as best we can, IG has negotiated with CI to enable members to attend 'refresher' courses for Level 1 qualifications. The Level 1 refresher courses will be offered on a needs only basis at a reduced rate. No exams will be required for refresher courses, candidates must...
1: Attend a sports specific course
2: Coaches will have to be signed off on new additional skills in the course in accordance to the IG and Coaching Ireland requirements.
On completion of the above a new CI approved coaching certificate will be issued.
No refresher option can be offered for Level 2 qualifications or above. This is due to the fact that the content of these new courses is of a vastly higher standard to any other similarly named qualification that may have existed in the past and is in the interests of safety and the development of our sport.
ASSIMILATION OF EXTERNAL QUALIFICATIONS
CI will assimilate external qualifications (such as British Gymnastics qualifications) to an appropiate IG level. The assimilation process is open only a few times a year at CIs discretion.
